Since 2002, the Czech Republic export higher and higher amount of raw wood in lower, but also higher quality. We estimate, that high quality fundamental and subsequently applied research will bring basic precondition for development of wood-processing sector focused to production with high appended value. The research will be focused mainly to new technologies in area of wood processing, in area of creation of products and commodities on the base of materials competitive to silicate, steel and pottery. The research on the topic of development of products with high appended value must be lead with the knowledge of potential of fast changes initiated by the 4th industrial revolution.
The research in this subprogram is thus focused to the following topics. The first is area of development of material on the base of wood with effort to increase the quality and flexible management of production. The next area of interest is development of the non-destructive methods of wood testing, "in situ" vs. "in vivo" and development and evaluation of adhesives and coating materials used on wood, but also in connection with additional materials (glass, metals etc.). Among the last areas of interest is optimization and evaluation of selected characteristics for wooden structures (gauziness, acoustic properties, thermal insulation, pre-stressed construction elements – with use maraging fibers) and new views on materials and bio-applications, which are inspired by natural processes (bionical techniques).
